Bring it on!
I like to think that this mass panic to become either an attacker or defender is going to bring good change.  The problem with many of these defenders is that they have been around so long that they are like a fortress built into a mountain when the battle is really going on at sea.  The constant onslaught of new cloud startups means that the fat, lazy guards need to get back on their toes quick.  It's good because it forces everyone to rethink their battle strategy.

How about grovelers and parasites?
Maybe "groveler" isn't exactly right, but there are startups that know damn well they'll never become Defenders, they just want to suck up to the Defenders enough to be purchased. Maybe mercenaries?

And parasites are the patent trolls and cyber extortionists.

This is fun.

Cisco
Cisco is indeed one of the main Arms Merchants, but it's also a classic Defender, fending off an array of upstart and open source Attackers of its core networking business.
