Re: Before "software-defined everything." better think DevOps
@Charles - I 100% agree with you there. Software development is a key part of the entire cloud modevement. Software and application options must be ever-dynamic and adapt to changing needs around user demand and resource utilization.

Honestly, it's part of the reason I mentioned APIs. The development of good applications, the connectors that help bind processes together, and the delivery method are all key elements to the foundation of the future cloud.

To accomplish this -- there will need to be better collaboration and integration between software developers and IT professionals. In all reality, I'm hoping that this is a natural progression as technology becomes even more interconnected.

Re: Up, up and away in my beautiful cloud
@Gary_EL - It's pretty cool right? You sit down at your PC and realize that you really don't have that much on there. A few games, some really heavy apps -- but that's about it. And that's what they future looks like.

The days of the PC - at least as we know it -- are numbered. There will definitely be a transformation in how users utilize cloud-based apps and data.

Re: Up, up and away in my beautiful cloud
@asksqn - I totally agree with you! I've been pretty much completely mobile for about 2 years now. I mix data sharing environments between Dropbox and ShareFile. Both work great. Many of my apps are SaaS-based and everything else I can get in the cloud.

You are a perfec example around the evolution of the user. It's not even necessarily that we're "techies" -- it's just becoming easier to compute from mobile devices.
