AmeriVault and EMC Offer Desktop Backup Service

Data protection and offsite storage provider AmeriVault has lauched AmeriVault-EZ, a new online backup solution based on EMC's Mozy service and aimed at consumers and small businesses.AmeriVault, whose other services focus primarily on server backup, said that this year it had "received an unprecedented number of requests to provide an online backup service for desktops and laptops." ""We needed to extend our service offerings beyond server backup to desktops and laptops," said Bud Stoddard, President of AmeriVault, "and Mozy was the clear choice given their expertise in desktop and laptop online backup services."

The service boasts 128-bit encryption during transport and 448-bit encryption during storage, and offers multiple data recovery options. Licenses cost $6.45/month for desktops and laptops, including 5 GB of storage per license; and $24.45/month for servers, with 10 GB of storage.
