The election is just 33 days away. Voter registration deadlines are imminent, with most states cutting off interested voters in the next seven days. With only 3 in 4 eligible Americans registered to vote, Google has teamed up with Hollywood A-Listers to encourage more people to get out there and register. This statistic kills me. According to the most recent Census report, fully 25% of eligible voters haven't signed up for what is, perhaps, the most important civic duty we have. Voting is the easiest and best way to voice our opinion -- whatever it may be -- about how we think things should be going.

Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, with their running mates, are set to battle it out for the top job in the country, and Google thinks it is important for people to participate in what is going to be a historic vote no matter who wins.

Google is taking a number of steps to make it easier on people to register. Google writes, "We're trying to help increase participation by making sure you have easy access to voting information. Google's Voter Info Map currently puts registration, absentee, and early voting information in one place. If you're on a phone, you can check out our mobile version at m.google.com/elections. On phones with full Web browsers, like the iPhone, you can also get all state online resources including complete online registration forms."

On top of providing voter registration information, Google also worked with Leonardo DiCaprio, will.i.am, Tobey Maguire, Forrest Whitaker and others to a series of public service announcements to encourage young Americans to register to vote.

If you haven't already, take advantage of the tools that Google is providing and register!
