Microsoft Provides Easier Access to Office Commands

Microsoft has made available a downloadable add-on for its Office 2007 for Windows productivity suite that enables users to find commands by typing the name of the function. The add-on, called Search Commands, puts a search box in the Ribbon into which users can type the desired function. It's a product of Microsoft's new Office Labs, a "concept testing" initiative by a group of Redmond designers and developers. Search Commands has been tested internally at Microsoft, and is now available to the public for the first time. It's not meant to be a finished product -- "The projects you find here are not products or beta versions. They don't even pretend to be complete product ideas," says one of the developers on the Office Labs blog. They also invite feedback from testers.CNET News, Lifehacker
