The old way of doing things was to use the chemical every time you flush. Maybe if you flush more often, you'll need less of the chemical because of the cleansing action of the water. Maybe you need more chemical because the reactions of the waste with the porcelain bowl. But if the maintenance techs at the hotel or chemists and engineers at the factory could compare the number and timing of flushes with the degrading of the toilet, they can figure out a more optimal solution. Maybe they can even control the amount of chemical dynamically.
Less waste of chemical, money, and less chemical put into waste water. A great use for IOT.
But you don't want to run a wire to something that wet human is touching, so, it must be wifi, and the sensor will need to be wirelessly recharged by the janitor when he refills the chemical dispenser.
