WES 2009: RIM Co-CEO Bids For Phoenix Coyotes

This news isn't officially part of RIM's Wireless Enterprise Symposium, but the timing sure is interesting. RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie has offered $212.5 million for the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team.
This news isn't officially part of RIM's Wireless Enterprise Symposium, but the timing sure is interesting. RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie has offered $212.5 million for the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team. The move by Balsillie to buy the team isn't a total shocker. He's tried to buy NHL hockey teams before, notably the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Nashville predators.

Balsillie was shot down before, but looks to be on more solid footing this time around. The Coyotes recently filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and have publicly said they will entertain offers.

Balsillie's offer has one major string attached: the team will have to move to somewhere in the southern region of Ontario, Canada. A specific location was not named by him, but some believe it may be Hamilton, Ontario.

Ontario is also home to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators.

Perhaps this will lead to awesomer NHL apps for BlackBerries?
