Montecito Made Manifest

Intel last week revealed more details about its next-generation 64-bit Itanium processor, code-named Montecito, as well as the progress of Itanium-based servers in the enterprise. When Montecito debuts in 2005, it will include 24 Mbytes of level-three cache memory and two cores, each with multithreading capabilities. Lisa Graff, director of Intel's Itanium 2 worldwide ramp program, says Itanium server sales to enterprise customers during the second half of 2003 will be up 65% over sales during the first half of the year.
