Novell Updates NetWare For Small Business

Novell has begun shipping an update of its NetWare for Small Business package and has reached an agreement with Intuit to bundle that company's QuickBooks Pro 6.0 accounting software with the NetWare update.

NetWare for Small Business 4.2 incorporates scaled-down versions of the NetWare 4.11 network operating system and GroupWise 5.2 messaging and collaborative software. It also includes new features, such as an Internet Connection Wizard, which simplifies a small company's setup and use of an Internet connection; BorderManager FastCache software for speeding Internet connectivity; Web authoring tools; antivirus software; and inbound and outbound faxing capabilities.

NetWare for Small Business 4.2 increases the maximum number of users supported to 50 from 25. It's priced at $1,295 for the server and five-user license, compared with $995 for the previous release. Each additional user license sells for $70. With QuickBooks Pro 6.0 added, the price is $1,595 for the five-user package.
