Office 11: How Suite It Is

Microsoft has begun beta testing Office 11, the next upgrade to its desktop applications suite, planned for release in mid-2003. Among the new features: Smart Documents, which uses XML to pull data into a Word or Excel document; integration of Office's E-mail client, Outlook, with Sharepoint Team Services for collaborating on documents shared as E-mail attachments; and usability improvements to Outlook such as reminder flags for E-mail follow-up.
