Investment advisory firms, banks, insurance companies, brokerage firms, and corporate treasury departments can offer clients wireless access to their systems through Eagle Investment Systems' new portal.
The Eagle Portal lets Internet cell phone or personal digital assistant users manage their portfolios on the Eagle Pace system. The company surveyed institutional investors to determine which features and reports would be needed for users to compare portfolio performance against benchmarks, get a transaction history, determine sector distributions for a portfolio's holdings, and cross-reference securities among portfolios.
The system includes a wireless E-mail inbox for reports that are produced out of the Pace Datahub and an online HTML reporting engine to query the database and generate reports from a range of categories, including holdings, transactions and performance. The process starts by sending data in the Extensible Markup Language format to a Web server, where it is translated to the Extensible Stylesheet Language to create either a Wireless Markup Language screen format for Pocket PC or Palm 7 PDAs and WML-enabled cell phones or an HTML format for standard Web browsers.
The portal provides a "timely feedback loop for quality control," says Trent Williams, portfolio analyst for Quellos Fixed Income Advisors. "We can get transaction information to the right people on a timely basis so we can catch any errors in the system quickly."
Eagle Portal is available now, with pricing determined by usage.
