RFID-Privacy Hearings Sought
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-VT., said last week that Congress may need to hold hearings on the privacy implications of radio-frequency identification technology. At a conference on surveillance technologies at Georgetown University's law school in Washington, Leahy said it's time to begin a national dialogue on RFID, according to a transcript of his speech, before a "potentially good approach is hampered because of lack of communication with Congress, the public, and lack of adequate consideration for privacy and civil liberties."
