Seagate To Debut New Version Of NerveCenter

Seagate Software next week will release a new version of its NerveCenter rules-based event-correlation system that extends its downstream alarm-suppression technology and adds a Web-based console.

NerveCenter 3.5 can mine network-management frameworks like Hewlett-Packard's OpenView for topology information that can be used to determine how devices--and consequently events--are interrelated. This gives the software system an out-of-the-box alarm-suppression capability.

Earlier versions of the event-correlation software relied on SNMP discovery to map the network. Seagate says this made the process slower.

Seagate's NerveCenter also now integrates with a number of management frameworks and applications, including Computer Associates' Unicenter TNG and Micromuse's Netcool alarm-filtering package.

The software, which ships Monday, is priced from $2,195 per server.
