J.D. Edwards & Co. and Siebel Systems Inc. are teaming tooffer customers integrated Web-based enterprise and E-business solutions.
The companies yesterday outlined an alliance by which J.D.Edwards will integrate Siebel's Web-based front-officesoftware into its OneWorld enterprise resource planningsoftware suite, allowing users to share data between sales-oriented front-office apps and administrative back-officeapps. J.D. Edwards will also resell Siebel's salesapplications to customers looking to expand the capabilitiesof its supply-chain software. In the future, the vendorswill work together to develop products that help their jointcustomers get a greater return from their existingapplications. The integrated offering is expected to beavailable by the end of this year.
While Siebel has a similar reseller arrangement with J.D.Edwards' ERP rival PeopleSoft Inc., this agreement marks thelaunch of Siebel's Channel Alliance program, by whichcustomers can purchase Siebel applications through vendorswith whom they've already established relationships. J.D.Edwards also says yesterday's announcement is setting thestage for its E-business strategy, which it will roll out atits user conference next week.
