User training should go hand in hand with IT implementations, but it can be difficult to plan for and assess programs. Free software introduced Monday by PeopleSoft Inc. is designed to help companies get a better handle on training, particularly with regard to enterprise-resource-planning software projects.

The tool, available now, helps companies get the necessary funding they need for training by demonstrating how that training will improve return on investment. It can also be used to track the training's results.

Using PeopleSoft ROI for Training, IT execs can identify performance metrics that best quantify software education success, and then use those indicators to evaluate the training. The data can also be used to help shape future, even more successful training and education projects.
