Google has unveiled a feature that lets users track Federal Express and United Parcel Service packages directly from the popular search engine.

The new Search By Number feature brings up the appropriate Web page for those companies' parcel location services when users enter the tracking number into Google. UPS packages can be traced simply by entering the tracking number, while FedEx numbers must be preceded by the word Fedex.

Other Search By Number requests can bring up patents (when the number follows the word "patent"), aircraft registered by the FAA, and equipment tagged with an FCC identification number.
