Vignette and Lombardi Software have announced a go-to-market alliance that aims to bring together the enterprise content management (ECM) and business process management (BPM) markets in order to better enable content-centric applications and business processes. As part of the agreement, Vignette, the ECM solutions provider and Lombardi, the BPM software vendor, plan to engage in joint marketing and solution implementation strategies.

"Lombardi, like Vignette, prides itself on listening to our customers and delivering solutions that drive immediate business value," said Phil Gilbert, executive vice president and chief technology officer at Lombardi Software. "By combining the strength of Vignette's ECM and Lombardi's BPM capabilities, customers will be able to leverage both their structured and unstructured content throughout all their business processes with increased flexibility, control and visibility."

The alliance will drive quick time-to-value for joint customers by allowing them to create, deploy and manage web applications based on a robust services-oriented architecture (SOA) that leverages industry standards such as BPEL (Business Process Execution Language), BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation), JSR-168 (Java Specification Request), and Web Services.

"Lombardi's strong BPM capabilities and expertise combined with our world-class ECM solutions will serve our joint customers well," said Larry Warnock, chief marketing officer at Vignette. "This alliance enables our customers to create a unified web presence by fully leveraging all the systems, content and processes across a company and deliver them through a rich portal experience."
