The agreement will be implemented in several European countries, starting with France, Accenture said. In addition to technology help, Accenture also will provide AIG with so-called business process outsourcing services, which cover a range of back office functions.
Under that part of the deal, Accenture will provide AIG Entrepreneur with underwriting, policy, and claims services from its BPO center in Bucharest, Romania. Accenture also operates European BPO centers in France, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.
Separately, Wednesday's edition of the Wichita Eagle reported that Accenture has laid off 24 staffers at a BPO facility in Wichita, Kan., that employs 340. It is the second time in a year that Accenture has cut staff at the facility, according the report.
