EDS Wins Extension From Safety-Kleen

The extended agreement through 2013 brings the value of the deal originally signed in 2002 to $256 million.
EDS said Tuesday it has signed a multiyear contract extension with waste-management company Safety-Kleen Systems Inc.

Under the extended agreement, originally signed in 2002, EDS will provide Safety-Kleen with a range of IT and business-process services, including storage, desktop, and application management, through 2013. The extension brings the value of EDS's agreement with Safety-Kleen to a total of $256 million. The original contract was set to expire in 2007.

In addition to basic IT services, EDS will also focus on enhancing Safety-Kleen's handheld environment. Safety-Kleen drivers use a range of wireless devices to better manage their routes and record pick-up information. EDS also manages Safety-Kleen's accounts-payable systems.
