The HANA Tipping Point?
Doug, like you, I've been hearing about HANA for years at SAP events. The performance demos have always been impressive but man, does it require a great whopping mound of server to make it happen on an enterprise level. Do you get the impression that moving the apps to HANA will finally be the tipping point that brings customers over to the in-memory fold? And was there a lot of talk about being able to access the apps via a cloud model? I know that SAP has used that as the lower-cost lever to get companies into the tent -- do you think they'll keep that momentum going?
Thanks for a great article. One way or another I do agree that this is a very big deal for enterprise application customers.
