BI and big data analytics tools are getting more sophisticated and comprehensive. Yet, some organizations are failing to derive full value from their data because their corporate cultures do not reflect a data-driven mindset. Here are the common cultural challenges standing in the way of big data innovation.

compartmentalization
Sharing the data seems to be one of the common problems. Several places where I have worked had departments where one had no clue what the other was doing even in places where everyone knew it would serve everyone better if they ventured out of their little cubbyholes and talked to someone outside their department once in a while. When a company culture is compartmentalized even unofficially, taking that next step to transparency and data sharing is a huge hurdle.

In my opinion the culture has to be data driven, which mean they need to be working with data all the time.
