re: Autonomy Search Tech Viable For HP, Analyst Says
Can you believe that HP (and the banks) were conned by this drivel? Here is how Autonomy's website describes its business model:
"Autonomy's unique meaning-based technology is able to extract meaning in real time from all forms of information, regardless of format, source, or language is transforming the way companies use and interact with data G«™ and develops a variety of enterprise search and knowledge management applications using adaptive pattern recognition techniques centered on Bayesian inference in conjunction with traditional methods."
Well, there's something for everyone there. Right?
Larry Ellison has every right to be smug. Autonomy was G«ˇshoppedG«÷ to companies like HP by none other than dot-com fraudster Frank Quattrone; it was the last major purchase by Apotheker before he was booted out of HP. I donG«÷t think any of this would have happened if Hurd were still running HP (but then heG«÷s smug too, sitting at his job at Oracle).
So is 451 Research in on the action? We don't know.
