I hope you know about the forthcoming Enterprise 2.0 Conference, now in its second year on the U.S. west coast (Santa Clara, CA) next month. I'll be kicking off the "Business Tools and Technology Decisions" track (a.k.a., the tech track) with a Town Hall Debate to help frame key social software and collaboration technology decisions for the coming year.

Some potential topics include:

  • Should community managers have to worry about information lifecycle management?
  • Should social be an application, or a layer? Should you socialize existing applications in lieu of creating new social applications?
  • Tools: suite, platform, or best of breed?
  • Is SharePoint the future of collaboration?
  • Is video and voice the future of social computing?
What else do you think the audience should debate? Feel free to post below. Or better yet, join us in Santa Clara and offer your opinion in-person.

While we're on the topic, Real Story Group has just updated several vendor evaluations in our Enterprise Collaboration and Social Software technology stream, including:

  • Google Apps: An oddly disconnected and variable conglomeration of hosted services
  • Jive Software SBS: Media/Analyst darling that partly lives up to its reputation
  • WordPress: Usable but high-maintenance blog platform
  • SAY Media / Moveable Type: decent technology that's not well loved
Real Story Group Collaboration and Social Software stream subscribers can access all the updated reviews and comparison charts. Alternatively, you can purchase the latest evaluations of all 27 products here as a one-time download.I hope you know about the forthcoming Enterprise 2.0 Conference, now in its second year on west coast.
