Vista, Infrastructure and BPM Top IT Concerns

What are the three most important priorities for IT organizations in 2007? GCR (formerly Gartner Custom Research) put this question to more than 1,000 IT professionals and determined that Windows Vista, core infrastructure and business process management are among the top concerns, eclipsing interest in security and hardware upgrades.

What are the three most important priorities for IT organizations in 2007? GCR (formerly Gartner Custom Research) put this open-ended question to more than 1,000 IT professionals late last year and spotted the following concerns:• Windows Vista - IT managers at small and midsized organizations are budgeting for upgrades to Vista and they're anticipating the need to upgrade application software first.

• Core IT infrastructure - Smaller organizations are focusing on improving management of the servers, operating systems, firewalls, storage and networking assets.

• Business Process Management - A key priority for enterprise-level IT decision makers, BPM is set for wider adoption this year, with increased deployment of sophisticated systems that measure and manage business processes.

Security was less of a concern this year than in the two previous studies, with GCR reasoning that security features are now integrated into many software and hardware offerings. With the exception of storage investments, interest in hardware upgrades also waned, trumped by software upgrade priorities.

A seven-page report on the study is available at the GCR site. What are the three most important priorities for IT organizations in 2007?
