Jabber, WebEx Partner To Integrate Messaging With Conferencing

Enterprise instant messaging provider Jabber, Inc., on Tuesday announced a partnership with webconferencing company WebEx that includes plans for integration of WebEx's meeting capabilities into Jabber's messaging and presence systems. The integrated offering is to be offered in the third quarter of this year.

Jabber's XCP presence and messaging platform is widely used, and has been approved by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Benefits to both companies include access to strong and loyal customer bases. "Along with that," said Jabber vice president Jeff Schmidt, "we look forward to customers benefiting from increased productivity and cost reduction from using an integrated messaging solution."

Rick Emery, who runs business development at Jabber, added that the company is always looking for new ways to implement its presence technology, "We are working both internally and with partners to tie presence information into a variety of multimedia and web communications technology that bring the right people and information together at exactly the right moment."
