More Ads Are Coming Depending Upon Where You Walk
In New York City, a number of new transmission points have been placed around Manhattan that monitor where you have been and send adverts directly to your smartphone from local merchants. Not sure if this program has been activated yet but it is sure to cause a lot of issues from unsuspecting people who all of a sudden get an unsolicited message on their phone. I believe the technology is passive in that it does not gather any information from your phone, it just transmits ads out to the phone. Not sure if there is any way to block this intrusion. It is one thing to be on a free app like Facebook but another thing to be walking to work or a tourist and getting unsolicited spam. And will recipients be charged for this as well? Terrible. I hope it does not go through.
