I like the introduction. Heartland assumes their systems will be hacked, they just mitigate and try to reduce risk. I think that's a healthy perspective

Hi Doris, since you're obviously the pitchman for Mr. Perez, earn your fees by providing a little bit more info. What exactly is Mr. Perez telling boardrooms to do about cyberwar and other digital threats? Nothing sells better than actual content.

soozyg, I agree that he is being very honest and putting it out there about their vulnerabilities. Then again, you need to confess some sort of optimism, too, that you can protect what's most valuable to your organizations, your stakeholders, shareholders, consumers, etc. You can admit complete ineffectiveness in prevention.

They also need a very very good PR department that is always prepared to deal with the public--especially regarding credit cards and finance technology companies.

Indeed, as anyone with insider experience knows, you can never be 100% safe. But you can take steps to reduce or manage risk, and that's what responsible companies have to do before they are breached.
