CIOs need to present themselves as someone who can bring technology down to earth and be a business leader. That's why emphasizing the "big picture" results of your leadership (actual numbers) is such a good idea on a resume. The day-to-day job details and technical abilities should simply serve as a backdrop.
"Write the resume for the job you want, not the job you have" is the keeper line here for me. It seems obvious but it's easy to lose sight of the big picture when trying to promote yourself on paper.
