Sun Goes Further With Intel

Sun Microsystems chairman Scott McNealy said last week that the Intel server market looked good to him as he introduced two low-end servers with Xeon processors. The Sun Fire V60x and V65x are thin enough to be stacked 32 high in a refrigerator-sized rack, are priced at $2,450 and $2,650 with 2.8-or 3.06-GHz CPUs, respectively, and include support for up to 12 Gbytes of memory and six PCI-X slots. Sun will ship Red Hat Linux or Solaris x86 on the servers.
