re: 4 IT Career Mistakes Can Hold You Back
Author makes valid and excellent points on all counts. We professionals worked very hard to get our initial education in this profession and continue to develop it. Therefore, our time and sweat is worth $$$ - as based upon what the market will bear. As for networking, doesn't matter your profession, you need to do it. Have known fellow IT types who were very technically capable with great people skills and they've had very successful careers. Don't be afraid - TALK to people. Finally, author is spot on about working with blinders on. I too have worked for many years in a big company, caught up in the daily minutia and it wears on you. When you look beyond your current boundaries, there really are a world of opportunities. I'm finally learning now to break away and actively doing so.
