Toshiba is the latest to join the swelling ranks of notebook PC makers, adding 802.11b wireless technology directly to the latest product offerings. On Monday, Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. began shipping its Tecra 8200 and Satellite Pro 4600 notebooks with integrated wireless antennae built directly into the casing.
The company is also offering a Wireless LAN Access Point, Wireless LAN PC Cards, and a Bluetooth PC Card for very short-range wireless communications. To garner momentum, Toshiba is offering special promotional pricing on the devices, a corporate installation service, and a free corporate trial of the Bluetooth system.
Says Toshiba VP Mike Wagner, "This is the first [step] in our movement to put wireless in all our notebooks."
