'Total Ownership' Is The Goal

PeopleSoft Inc. last week unveiled the first fruits of its multimillion-dollar "total ownership experience" effort, designed to make applications less taxing to implement, use, and maintain. At its user conference in Anaheim, Calif., the vendor introduced four tools to automate software installation, configuration, updates, and performance tuning. Also, CEO Craig Conway credited Oracle's hostile takeover attempt with accelerating its acquisition and integration of J.D. Edwards & Co. but said the bid was doomed.
