Trimble Unveils High-Accuracy GPS Systems

New GPS Pathfinder Pro series provides subfoot and submeter mapping accuracy, company says.

Global Positioning Systems specialist Trimble has unveiled its next generation of high-accuracy GPS receivers with subfoot and submeter accuracy.

Announced Friday, the GPS Pathfinder Pro series provides improved mapping accuracy, according to the manufacturer. The new receivers use Trimble's H-Star technology, which combines advanced receiver technology, field data collection techniques, and processing features that enable users to achieve subfoot accuracy, the company sai.

"With the addition of an external Zephyr antenna, eight-inch (20 centimeter) accuracy can be obtained," Trimble said in a statement, noting that the new models will be on the market next month.

Trimble's Pathfinder ProXH receiver, which has Bluetooth capability, features an integrated GPS receiver, an antenna, and a battery in a single unit. Another model, the ProXT, delivers submeter accuracy, according to the company.

Trimble said it expects the new GPS models will find use in industries that require increased accuracy, such as wastewater, utilities, telecommunications, and transportation.
