Wang Offers Enterprise Support

Wang Global next week will unveil a suite of 19 services that provides end-to-end support for customers' enterprise desktop and network infrastructures. NetWorkPlace includes planning, deployment, and management and maintenance services.

Key to NetWorkPlace is a common operating environment based on Dell Computer desktop PCs, Microsoft software platforms, and Cisco Systems networking products. Wang will migrate NetWorkPlace customers to this environment to reduce support costs, says David Goulden, Wang's president of U.S. operations.

NetWorkPlace also features a common support program, under which Wang offers consistent services methodologies and best practices worldwide. This will ensure that large customers with distributed operations internationally have consistent help-desk and network support, Goulden says. NetWorkPlace is available to Wang's U.S. customers immediately and will be available worldwide by the end of the year.

Hughes Network Systems is one Wang customer looking forward to the new services. Improvements to Wang's network services directly affects the quality of the satellite services that Hughes provides its own customers, says Mario Lucarelli, Hughes' assistant VP of customer services.
