WebTrends Enhances E-Commerce Software

WebTrends Corp. on Monday introduced a new version of itsbusiness intelligence software that is designed to let companies integrate the customer data they collect from their online businesses with their legacy data.

CommerceTrends 2.0 lets companies gather Web-site visitor data and export it to Oracle 8i and Microsoft SQL 7.0 databases. "The nexus of Web-site and visitor data with enterprise legacy data stores is what WebTrends and many others consider to be the Internet's next evolutionary step," says Bill Piwonka, product marketing manager at WebTrends.

By integrating the different sets of data into a single database, companies can then apply online analytical processing and other data mining tools so they can, for example, analyze cross-sections of customers that range from online-only customers to those who purchase both online and in a company's brick-and-mortar stores.

The new version also includes performance and scalability improvements so companies can analyze and report on daily activity in excess of 160 million hits as well as manage server clusters of up to 1,000 servers. The software includes functionality that helps businesses differentiate between casual visitors and those who are more likely to buy.

Available now, the software starts at $25,000.
