Where Do We Sign Up? Medical Studies Involving Tetris
It appears that amnesiacs in a study who played Tetris saw thecomputer game's distinctive falling pieces in their mind's eye as
they fell asleep. This despite the fact that, as amnesiacs, they
couldn't remember playing the game earlier in the day, according
to an article in the latest issue of Science.
Probably most people who play the addictive game end up still
trying to mentally spin the many-colored geometric shapes as they
imagine them falling faster and faster. But scientists are trying
to figure out how this happens to people who have no memory of
even playing. They think it might have something to do with where
various bits of information are physically stored in the human
brain. Maybe, but why discount one obvious possibility--damn good
programming?
