XML: From Plug-In To Built-In
Microsoft Office 11, due by the middle of next year, will feature built-in support for XML to help knowledge workers more easily aggregate data from numerous sources into applications such as Excel. But the news, touted by group VP for productivity and services Jeff Raikes during a keynote speech at the TechXNY trade show in New York last week, is hardly groundbreaking. The vendor already offers a plug-in to add XML compatibility to Office.
