NEW YORK--Companies interested in giving employees wireless access to the Internet but leery of the infrastructure costs involved can now outsource the hosting of such systems to YadaYada Inc. At Internet World Wireless, YadaYada, a wireless service provider and portal for personal digital assistants, unveiled a program to provide corporate customers with bundled packages that include PDAs from Palm Inc. or Handspring Inc., Minstrel modems, E-mail software, and wireless access over YadaYada's mobile network.
YadaYada also has partnered with security vendor Certicom Corp. to integrate mobile virtual private network capabilities into the service, and has enlisted professional services firm Mobilocity Inc., which creates wireless applications. "The real holy grail is to create a complete product for the enterprise," says David Waxman, YadaYada's director of business development. "We're going to continue to bring in other parties for other applications."
The hardware package and monthly hosting service runs $49.95 a month for each user, but those needing additional applications from Certicom, Mobilocity, or any of YadaYada's future partners will be charged undetermined additional fees.
