Zing Interactive Allows CD Sales Via Cell Phone

Zing Interactive works with radio stations to sell CDs via cell phone

Ever hear a song that you liked on the radio but forgot the title when you were ready to buy a CD? Now you can solve the problem by simply dialing 321 on your cell phone.

Zing Interactive Media is finalizing arrangements with radio stations and cellular providers to launch its Zing 321 system this summer. When radio listeners hear a song they like, they can call the toll-free number and immediately purchase a CD, says Dor Skuler, president and founder of Zing. The transaction takes less than a minute, he adds.

Zing has signed on with the largest owner of radio stations in the United States, Clear Channel Communications Inc., to try out the system on RadioAlice and WJJZ in Zing's hometown of Philadelphia. Zing plans to expand the service to Clear Channel's 1,170 other stations based on the trial.
