Many vendors, particularly old-line telecoms, have been touting a so-called "Triple Play" that bundles broadband home access, television and voice-over-IP voice service. However, the new study says that people also want wireless minutes added to the bundle.
Specifically, the survey found that 31 percent of respondents said they'd switch from their current providers to a provider providing a so-called Quadruple Plan that included wireless minutes. The study projected that 80 million households would be willing to switch to the bundled Quadruple play.
The study cited a sweet spot of $149 for 1,000 wireless minutes along broadband access, television and voice-over-Internet phone service. However, the study noted that selling the Quadruple Play poses some challenges.
"The challenge is when the sales reps try to explain to Joe Consumer that he needs high-speed Internet access to get 'digital phone'," Lynne Bartos, a senior vice president for the research firm, said in a statement.
