Content management and integration software company Hummingbird signed a deal with Attunity, a maker of data integration technology, that the companies hope will attract customers carrying out business intelligence initiatives with data stored in mainframes.

Under terms of the agreement, Hummingbird will resell Attunity software as an add-on component to its own data integration offering, called Hummingbird Genio.

Attunity makes an adapter technology called Connect that's designed to make non-relational data, such as that found in mainframes and other legacy systems, available to reporting tools. Another software package, Attunity Stream, captures changes to data and feeds them to BI applications.

Genio can be used for extract, transform and load work or enterprise application integration in the building of data warehouses and data marts.
