Agencies Need to do better
What's telling in this report: GAO estimates that the 24 major federal agencies did not effectively or consistently demonstrate actions taken in response to a detected cyber incident in about 65 percent of reported incidents. for Agencies, for instance, did not always demonstrate that they had determined the impact of an incident. Extrapolate that against the 25,566 incidents reported in 2013 -- and that's a huge number. Agencies must do better than that. Especially when you see what Target just went through.

Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
