Plenty of people are trying to redefine themesleves as data scientists, but advanced analytics types have been the most successful at doing that. If you read the InformationWeek report, I get into that transition question in detail, but it's also going to be the subject of our 5/27 InformationWeek Radio interview with big data/data scientist head hunter Linda Burtch of Burtch Works. How challenging it is for "old school" BI or data warehousing pros to redefine themselves as "data scientists" -- does it amount to more than learning to use the new jargon and playing around with Hadoop?
