Chris is right, it's always smart to tailor your approach for the listener, whether you are a man or a woman. It's just there is more at stake during salary negotiations.

Practical Advice
This was a very practical interview, I recommend it for men and women negotating. You sort of hate to hear that women would have to change their approach to negotiate, the idealist in me thinks that's pathetic. Make the boss hearing that change. The realist in me says that's what we all do all the time -- figuring out the best approach, blending that with our own style to present a message in a way that it'll get the best reception.
