Agree, but I think ultimately private cloud may be buying a faster horse at the dawn of the auto age. If you are just running plain jane Microsoft or Linux on x86, it will be difficult to justify that not going to a utility style public cloud in a mega data center in a few years. Not with Amazon, but with AT&T, IBM, Microsoft, maybe HP and Oracle. The only workloads that will remain in-house are those on a Unix or z platform which the service providers are not going to build out in scale and automate.
