That's a good question Deb. Social intranets can be very beneficial. I like how ThoughtFarmer is an easy to use platform and a great resource for social media.

Great piece, Michele! Presence on public social networks isn't for every company, but a social intranet would provide all of the dynamic collaboration benefits without the risk. And in the early days of the Web, many companies got their feet wet with intranets before deploying public websites. I wonder if social intranets will serve the same kind of purpose?
