Medical Questions Answered
Internet will never be able to replace family doctor as Medicine is an Art and Science. Unlike a bank teller being replaced by an ATM/online banking medicine can't be replaced.

Internet however makes access easier and information can help educate.

It can help doctors to answer patients medical questions in between appointments

re: Internet Has Yet To Replace Family Doctors
This was interesting and surprising at the same time, especially with the onslaught of sites like WebMD, etc. As Jay mentioned below, online education can be detrimental in some respects, but as this study shows, if a consumer uses the information he/she finds online to consult with a physician afterwards, it can essentially make for a more educated, engaged patient.

re: Internet Has Yet To Replace Family Doctors
Technology can be beneficial and also detrimental when it comes to self diagnosing health problems. Some people may find that they dont need physicians to diagnose them and can cure themselves using the helpful tools online, whereas there may be those that think they may have successfully diagnosed themselves but really didnt and because they didnt see a physician they could face grievous consequences.
