re: Quit Dithering On Digital Business Strategy
Getting the right people together to drive digital business -- as in your Vail example -- is indispensable. A recent IW Healthcare article had great advice from Larry Stofko, a leader in health IT: a hospital needs clinicians, IT and marketing together if it's going to do a patient-facing system right. Experts on the kind of information, on the audience for it, and how to deliver it.

Another title that had been rising in government ranks, but is also likely to be short lived, is the Chief Data Officer. The FCC was among the first to really back the role as well as the title as a way to separate the importance of information harvesting from infrastructure operations. But hard part for CIOs or CDOs going forward will remain: How to discern emerging strategic value from terabytes of data in an increasingly dynamic world.

re: Quit Dithering On Digital Business Strategy
As with all business, healthcare organizations cannot afford to be left behind when it comes to technology and digital business strategy. The ability to adapt to new technology and use it to your advantage is huge, as well as the ability to look to the future and develop digital strategies to strengthen your company and make yourself stand out from the crowd. CIOs definitely need to take more of a leadership role when it comes to this digital business strategy. Sometimes taking risks on new technology can reap huge rewards.
