Tim Cook evidently showed up at the Palo Alto store this morning. I bet for most of the people waiting in line, that validated the decision to get up early and head over to Apple. Still, I wonder how most of the iPhone enthusiasts are going to feel when, after waiting for hours, they're unable to buy the iPhone 5S variety they most covet.

That's "slate" as in black, right Eric? Don't make this faux pas with a salesperson or you'll get the same look you get at Starbucks when you order a "large." Or go right ahead -- darn hipsters.
