Ever userful
"IFTTT stands for "if this, then that," which describes a common conditional operation in computer programs. As a service, IFTTT allows users to program the Internet services they rely on. For example, IFTTT can be set up to automatically save all the Instagram pictures you take to Dropbox. Though IFTTT's mobile app debuted in July, its spare graphic sensibility fits iOS 7 design conventions fairly well. Really, it's just a cool app."

IFTTT is definitely one of my favourite services ever, I have so much automated through it. Wapwolf is a more powerful alternative too for some things that IFTTT just cant do

My Critical Apps
Interesting lack of social networking apps in the list ;-) I was a little surprised that TiltShiftGen was considered a "must-have" app - it's kind of specialized, I think, not a daily workhorse app - especially compared to apps like Instagram.

Much of the list is about right though. My own "daily use" apps are Kindle, BBC News, Reeder, Google+, Facebook, Twitterific, The Weather Channel app, and Casts (a podcast app). I don't use a specific photo app any more - I'm a bit boring and just use the built-in camera these days :)

Re: Yahoo Weather
One that didn't make the final list that I like is Uber. It's really useful to be able to summon a cab to any location on a map, even when you're not there.

Thumbs up for Pocket
Pocket has been one of my favorite apps for a while. I love that it syncs with all my devices (including my browser) and is perfect for bookmarking those articles you don't have time to read fully or want to revisit later.

Re: Yahoo Weather
Well I think having the "Google Translator" will add more value to iPhone apps.

Yahoo Weather
I was recently introduced to the Yahoo weather app and I must say it is beautiful! So much better than the Apple weather app. I'm a convert.

apps
I could see my daughter going for the Yahoo weather app, though I'm pretty sure Weather.com offers some of its own. I just looked up what weather apps are available and foudn there are more than I thought there would be listed here: http://appadvice.com/appguides/show/best-iphone-weather-apps They range in price from free to $3.99. Some are heavy on the social component, connecting to FB, etc.
